Today show viewers were shocked on Thursday morning when Sarah Abo complained live on air about her co-host Karl Stefanovic’s bad breath.
Sarah, 38, and Karl, 49, who are in France covering the Paris Olympics, were discussing the games on air when Sarah revealed Karl’s breath was smelling bad due to a change in diet.
“I don’t know if we want to smell what’s been going on in Paris. Karl, have you had snails for lunch again? There’s a lot of garlic in there,” Sarah told her co-star.
Karl apologetically admitted that he had experienced a change in his diet since arriving in Paris.
“Sorry, I ate too much garlic. You can’t not eat it when you’re in Paris… Snails, frog legs!” he joked.
“People are going to be angry with me, but Sarah has to live with it.”
Sarah later joked that it was “lucky” because she loved him and that’s why she tolerated the smell.
Karl has been sharing on social media some of the dietary changes he’s undergone since landing in Paris, which include eating expensive caviar and spreading Vegemite on a French baguette.

Many of his followers were quick to take to the comments section to criticize him for his unique diet.
“Nope, not Vegemite on a baguette! How Parisian of you!” joked one fan, with another adding: “Vegemite in Europe is a NO, mate.”
It emerges from reports that Karl has been making sure his wife Jasmine has been enjoying the best that Paris has to offer as the Today show host is in France for Nine’s Olympics coverage.

On Sunday, the couple headed to the exclusive Girafe Restaurant, which requires a Game Pass to enter.
Jasmine smiled alongside Karl in a photo shared on Instagram, with the Eiffel Tower in the background.
“The Giraffe is with you. Thank you @channel9 for a lovely dinner,” she wrote in the caption, indicating that the couple had dined out on the network’s diner money.
This pricey restaurant offers caviar for up to €650 (AUD1,075) and main courses for between $60 and $70.
It offers ‘gourmet seafood dishes in a luxury restaurant with a terrace and views of the Eiffel Tower’.
