Following the surprise release, many fans took to X to call the unexpected timing “random.”
One person wrote: “Kanye West is crazy but I respect him,” while others used memes to compare him to the Chicago-born music artist.
Another fan used a highlight video of a LeBron James dunk and added: “Kanye West when it comes to dropping albums at random times.”

Ty, born Tyrone William Griffin Jr, teased the album earlier that day on his Instagram Stories.
To generate excitement among her 7.7 million followers, she wrote: “V2 loading,” in white typewriter font on a black background.
A few hours later, he revealed ‘V2 LIVE’ and added a link to the music via Yeezy.com.
Hours before the full album was released, the two musical artists released the single Slide.
Slide had been in development for some time; a version was first played at a listening party in Geneva last September, according to Variety.
Then, the live audience at Vultures Rave in Miami was treated to a full version of the song in December 2023, months before the Friday night release date.

John, who is also from Chicago, wrote on social media that the celebration “was such a vibe.”

News of the hitmaker’s surprising plans was revealed in an alleged text message exchange with rapper Rich The Kid.
Rich The Kid, 31, shared a screenshot on his Instagram Story of messages he had received from an iPhone contact with the name “Ye.”
The text from a person believed to be West, who legally changed his name from Kanye West to Ye in 2021, read: “I’m retiring from professional music. I don’t know what else to do.”
