The Kansas City Chiefs suffered their first major injury of the preseason, but the 18-year-old daughter of team owner Clark Hunt is thankfully recovering after emergency surgery.

Ava Hunt, the youngest daughter of Chiefs owner Clark and his beauty queen wife Tavia, suffered a serious injury after falling during a mountain hike this week. As a result, she underwent successful surgery.

“This little thing fell off the mountain today while hiking and went to the ER for surgery on a deep wound,” Tavia revealed on Instagram alongside a photo of herself and Ava smiling. “It’s been a long day. Praise God she’s on the mend and smiling already. Please pray for a speedy and full recovery!”

The SMU cheerleader is already putting a happy face on the painful situation.

After leaving the hospital, she enjoyed couch surfing and watching some Simone Biles highlights from the current Paris Olympics.

The 18-year-old confirmed the news on her own Instagram page with a photo of her injured leg.

“Update: Surgery went great and I’m back home watching my favorite show @simonebiles,” she wrote on Instagram.

“I’m feeling great (although I’m still a little high),” she continued. “Thank you for all your sweet messages and prayers.”

It’s unclear if the injury will affect her status on the SMU cheerleading squad. She is currently listed as a member of the team on the group’s Instagram page.

Ava is the youngest daughter of Clark, 59, and Tavia, 53. Her older sister, Gracie, followed in her mother’s footsteps and became Miss Kansas in 2021.

Clark is the grandson of oil magnate H.L. Hunt and the son of Lamar, a Pro Football Hall of Famer who helped launch the old AFL. It is Lamar’s name that adorns the AFC championship trophy to this day.

And like Ava, both Clark and Lamar attended SMU in Dallas.

Clark, owner of the two-time defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs, has an estimated net worth of $1.4 billion, while the family has a total wealth of $24.8 billion, according to Forbes.

The Hunt Group, the family-owned company, also manages MLS club FC Dallas.
