‘Bold changes’: John Lewis boss Sharon White

John Lewis chairman Sharon White has hinted that job cuts are coming despite hopes of returning to profit this week.

The outgoing boss did not rule them out when asked if they were part of her plans for “pretty bold changes.”

“We’re trying to simplify the way we work, so our amazing partners have more face time with customers,” he told the BBC’s Laura Kuenssberg yesterday.

“I’m hopeful we’re making progress,” he said ahead of Thursday’s numbers that are expected to show profits after cost cuts.
