The Doctor Who star, 57, made a brief appearance on the Channel 4 reality show on Sunday night and was criticised by viewers for falling at the first hurdle.
John took to Instagram to share a clip of himself the night before filming began, admitting at the time that he had already “thrown up” due to his nerves.
He said: ‘It’s the night before school starts. I’ve just thrown up and now I’m going to try and get some sleep.
“No, seriously, I threw up. I think it was something I ate, but I feel better. Let’s see how I feel in the morning. Wish me luck!”

The clip then shows John heading into the desert to begin the course, after handing over his valuables and briefly calling his loved ones.
She added: ‘I know it’s dark outside and you probably can’t see but that’s me walking to my valuables, I just spoke to Scott and I sent my mom and dad, everyone, a message to say, send positive vibes.
“I’m very scared, but it’s good to be scared, isn’t it?”
John left Celebrity SAS after just 32 minutes at base camp and was seen vomiting before throwing in the towel.
In an interview with The sunJohn claimed his illness was the result of being “forced” to eat “disgusting tofu” without being offered any other food.
John, who is neither vegetarian nor vegan, said, “I would never eat tofu in my life, but you’re so hungry you just eat it.”
The man, who suffered from dizziness, was forced to endure a two-hour car journey to perform the task, which left him completely dizzy.
He said: “Then I was throwing up all over the place and the tofu was there. I thought, ‘I’m not going to get sick or hurt myself to try to prove something I don’t need to prove.'”

“And I was like, ‘I’m completely comfortable with who I am. I’m a completely happy person. We all have our problems, but I made a mistake.'”
John, who spoke out about the outrageous allegations he faced in 2021 that led to his dismissal from the DOI judging panel while on the show, began vomiting shortly after arriving at base camp for the first challenge.
After the contestants changed into their military uniforms, the actor began panting and declared, “I’m out.”
Asked by expert Mark Billingham if he would like to see a doctor, John said: “No, I’m done. It’s just not for me, I know who I am and what I do, it’s not for me.”
As the voiceover said: ‘After just 32 minutes on base, number 13, John, is the first recruit to leave the camp.’
Viewers had little sympathy for the actor, with X calling him “pathetic” and a “diva.”
Writing: “I’ve never seen anything more pathetic in my life. I bet you thought this might as well be a chance at redemption. Oops!”: “John Barrowman Pathetic”: “John Barrowman 32 Minutes”: “Jeez John Barrowman, I knew you were a diva, I didn’t think you were much of a wuss too, you certainly didn’t do yourself any favours there.”
‘I hope John Barrowman didn’t get paid for that pathetic effort’: ‘I can’t believe John Barrowman walked out on the only show that was actually willing to give him work after just 32 minutes. What a moron.’
During the episode, John addressed allegations that he had repeatedly exposed himself on the set of BBC One sci-fi series Doctor Who and its sister show Torchwood.
He said: ‘The press said I was going around putting my penis on everyone’s shoulders.
“Having that happen to me was devastating, but this course will help me get over it and I want people to see the kind of person I really am.”
She later added: “In Doctor Who and Torchwood, I had to do a lot of nude scenes. If I was stupid, I would do something stupid.”
