Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum officially settled their contentious divorce this week due to their dispute over the Magic Mike franchise.

The contentious court battle between Jenna Dewan and Channing Tatum over the Magic Mike franchise has finally ended when the former couple reached an agreement and settled their divorce.

Talks between the exes stalled for years as the former spouses fought over intellectual property and the distribution of the money Tatum makes from the hit film franchise.

Although details of the agreement are not public, the couple signed a binding judgment this week that conclusively resolves the dispute.

That means the trial between the feuding exes that was scheduled for December will no longer take place.

If Tatum or Dewan have any future disagreements over custody, they agreed to work them out privately with a judge, according to court records filed with a Los Angeles judge.

They also mutually agreed to waive spousal support for each other.

Tatum’s 2012 film Magic Mike spawned two sequels, a live show in Las Vegas and a reality series on HBO.

They announced their split in a joint statement on social media in 2018, saying “there were no secrets or salacious events at the root of our decision.”

“Absolutely nothing has changed as far as how much we love each other, but love is a beautiful adventure that is taking us on different paths for now,” the exes said in the statement.

While the couple officially became single in November 2019, their divorce proceedings stalled due to Tatum’s lucrative deals with Magic Mike, stemming from the hit 2012 film.

The Hartford, Connecticut-born actress said money from her 10-year marriage funded the Magic Mike franchise, which includes two sequels, an HBO reality show called Finding Magic Mike and a live show in Las Vegas.

Tatum and the film’s director, Steven Soderbergh, co-financed the project. The film was largely based on Tatum’s previous experiences as a stripper in Florida.

His $7 million investment became a box office hit, grossing $167 million worldwide.

Celebrity attorney Samantha Spector, who represents Dewan, wrote in court documents that Tatum’s legal team “deprived Jenna of a fair and equitable share of the community estate, and is harming her every day this case continues.”

Spector estimated that the Magic Mike business is “a potential billion-dollar asset.”

Tatum’s attorney, Jacqueline Combs, insisted that the Magic Mike franchise made most of its money after the actor and Dewan had already split.

The actor said in court documents that he was always okay with his ex eating a piece of Magic Mike.

“I have never denied him his share of the community property or income,” the 44-year-old star wrote. “His claims that I have ‘colluded with third parties’ are completely false.”

“She has had full access to all of our financial records for all activities conducted during our marriage and since the separation. I continue to provide her with updates on Magic Mike’s financial affairs.”

The former Step It Up co-stars share a daughter, Everly, 11, of whom they have 50/50 custody, something the two agreed to in February 2020.
