Jason Kelce Revealed His Secret to Losing Weight After Retiring, Despite Indulging in Ice Cream

Former Philadelphia Eagles center Jason Kelce revealed his weight loss approach after retiring from the NFL.

After 13 seasons in the league, Kelce ended his career in March, a month after his brother Travis won the Super Bowl with the Kansas City Chiefs.

While he admitted that he has been eating sweets lately, the future NFL analyst shared how he managed to lose weight in an almost scientific way without following an overly strict diet.

“I’m feeling good, the kids, my wife Kylie and I have been down the coast,” Kelce told Access Hollywood at the 35th Annual American Century Awards. “I’ve been eating a lot of ice cream and I’ve started going the opposite way again.”

“But I’m still depressed, I’m probably at 280 percent right now. My goal is to get calories in and burn them off. I don’t overcomplicate things. I don’t get too extreme with diets in general.”

‘Eat something natural, whether it’s a plant or animal product, things like that, not processed foods. And don’t eat too much. Weight comes off naturally.’

Following his retirement, Kelce vowed to lose 35 pounds on an episode of the New Heights podcast. Nearly five months after the episode aired, the father of three appears to be sticking to the plan he set out for himself back then.

In the same episode, he shared the hobbies he planned to take up after a long career in football.

“I’m going to lose weight,” Kelce said in March. “My goal is 250 pounds. Last week I got down to 285 because I knew I was getting there. And then I ate cake for three days straight.”

“Personally, I’m not a fan of extreme diets like going completely vegan, carnivorous or keto,” he continued.

‘My friend Joe Thomas lost a ton of weight and he’s in ketosis. And I was like, ‘Dude, more power to you,’ but no, I’m not going to do that. It looks fantastic, but to me it’s not worth doing that.

“I downloaded MyFitnessPal and started tracking calories. I feel like as long as I keep up my protein intake, maintain my muscle mass, and limit calories a bit, I’ll start to lose weight. That’s the plan.”
