Jack Grealish jokingly mocked Bernardo Silva after Manchester City’s victory over Newcastle in the FA Cup quarter-finals.

Pep Guardiola’s side secured a place in the semi-finals at Wembley with a 2-0 victory against the Magpies at the Etihad.

The first goal of the match came after 13 minutes when Bernardo Silva cut in from the left and fired a shot that deflected considerably off Dan Burn past Martin Dubravka.

City doubled their lead just after the half-hour mark in similar style as Silva’s shot deflected off Sven Botman this time.

And after the match, Grealish took to social media to let it be known that his Portuguese teammate was lucky to score.

The England international, who was on the bench after recovering from a groin injury, posted a photo of Silva holding up two fingers to indicate he scored twice.

Grealish captioned the photo on Instagram: ‘They weren’t his goals!! They were own goals!!’

By beating Newcastle, Manchester City set a new record by becoming the first team to advance to the FA Cup semi-finals for six consecutive seasons.

A delighted Guardiola said: “After winning the treble and five titles, we reach the international break with two months left and being in contention for all the titles means a lot,” said the City manager.

“I know people talk about the Premier League, the Champions League, but to have won four Carabao Cups and (reached) six FA Cup semi-finals in a row, this team, this club, has something special, so it’s incredible.

‘Of course we want to win them all, but sometimes this is not possible basically because of the quality of the opponents and the schedule we have… but we were there six times in a row.

‘You can always have a bad night or a bad afternoon and be there six times, you didn’t have a bad night. And you prove those who doubt the team’s consistency wrong.

City will continue their quest for a second consecutive treble after the international break when they take on Premier League leaders Arsenal at the Etihad.
