Inside Dave Grohl's star-studded love life: from rumored affairs with Christina Aguilera and Winona Ryder to relationships with alt-rock actresses

Dave Grohl has admitted to cheating on his wife Jordyn Blum and having a secret baby.

The Foo Fighters singer, 55, made the admission in a statement posted to Instagram on Tuesday.

The statement read: “I recently became the father of a new daughter, born out of wedlock. I plan to be a loving and understanding father to her.

“I love my wife and children, and I am doing everything I can to regain their trust and earn their forgiveness. We appreciate your consideration for all the children involved, as we move forward together.”

Grohl and Blum, 48, met in 2001 and have been married since 2003, sharing three daughters: Violet, Harper and Ophelia.

But before starting a relationship with Blum, Grohl was romantically linked to several celebrities.

The former Nirvana drummer has dated Veruca Salt’s Louise Post, L7’s Jennifer Finch, snowboarder Tina Basich and has also had rumored romances with Christina Aguilera and Winona Ryder.

But Grohl has since denied rumours that he dated Christina, with the rocker clarifying that he was not romantically involved with the singer during an interview with a radio station. Charlatan It was reported in 2002.

Christina’s website at the time also debunked the rumor that Grohl was dating her, according to Rolling stone.

As for real romances, Grohl dated Louise Post, vocalist and guitarist for Veruca Salt, after the end of his marriage to Jennifer Youngblood in 1997.

Grohl divorced Youngblood in 1997 after admitting infidelities during their three-year marriage, according to The Guardian.

Her relationship with Post served as inspiration for the iconic Foo Fighters song Everlong, and in 2021 she spoke about her contribution to the song and what Grohl was whispering during it.

Sharing a preview sample of Everlong on her Instagram, she wrote in the caption: ‘I sang these choruses over the phone at 2am after DG woke me up from a deep sleep in Chicago because I was recording the vocals for “Everlong” in LA.

‘He wanted me to sing the doo-doos, which were inspired by our song “Shimmer Like a Girl.” While he was doing that, I wrote a harmony for the chorus and sang that, too.

‘The whispered part of this song was originally the dream she was having when the phone rang. It was a dream about us. She later removed it and replaced it with her own whispers, which were a love letter to me.’

But after a year together they split: Grohl allegedly ended their relationship so he could pursue Winona Ryder, according to the The Sydney Morning Herald.

Post was apparently inspired by the split to write several songs about it, including Disconnected, but later suggested the lyrics weren’t actually about Grohl.

She also insisted that they were now friends.

“People certainly read things into my songs. In interviews, any mention of him bothers me. It was a private relationship, but it got a lot of publicity. I didn’t mean for it to happen. We’re friends now,” she told the Sydney Morning Herald in 2003.

Their bands were in similar social scenes and came out shortly after Grohl joined Nirvana as their drummer, according to Biography.

Finch recalled watching Nirvana rise to fame following the release of their album Nevermind in a documentary about his band, L7: Pretend We’re Dead.

“And it just blew up,” she said, according to Grunge. “Everywhere I go, everywhere I turn, I see this damn face,” Finch said. “Frankly, I’m sick of it.”

They dated for two years before he finally broke up with her.

She claimed Grohl cheated on her in her 2003 memoir, Pretty Good for a Girl: The Autobiography of a Snowboarding Pioneer.

“I don’t know how someone in his profession can have a normal relationship with a girlfriend… or two, as it turned out. I found out secondhand, through rumors, when it seemed like everyone knew except me,” he wrote, according to Page six.

“Breakups suck, but Rockstar departures are the worst. All I got was a five-minute phone call from him, after five weeks of calling him and trying to get in touch with him because I just had to know if those rumors were true and I had to hear it straight from the source.

She claimed she received “nothing” from Grohl when he “disappeared from the planet” but that he was “everywhere” due to his career as a rock star.
