A Chinese woman living in the UK has gone viral after giving her verdict on the British take on traditional dishes.
Yinrun Huang, 25, originally from Shanghai, moved to the UK two years ago and decided to try our version of Chinese food for the first time.
Having ordered a popular Chinese takeout combo of salt and pepper chips, egg fried rice, salt and pepper chicken, as well as sweet and sour shredded beef, he said it wasn’t “authentic Chinese food,” but still She seemed excited to try it.
Ms. Huang documented the experience in a TikTok she posted under the username @Yinrun_Helloin a video that has since gone viral with more than 2.4 million views.
Explaining her decision to film such a video, the content creator said: “I’ve heard a lot about British Chinese food but I’ve never tried it because I cook a lot and why buy something I can cook?”

Yinrun Huang, 25, originally from Shanghai, moved to the UK two years ago and decided to try Chinese food for the first time on March 1.
“I was really curious to see what it was like because a lot of people say it’s really good, so I thought I should try and film it.”
He noted that most of the food he ordered would not be found in China, and that only egg fried rice and chow mein were popular in Yinrun’s home country.
The vlogger also pointed out that prawn crackers, a staple of Chinese takeaways across the UK, are only found in Thai restaurants in China.
After trying all the dishes, it seems like you found a clear favorite, which may come as a surprise to some.
Yinrun said: “Of course it is different from food cooked in China, but I was very curious about salt and pepper chips because there are no chips in China.”
‘I ordered them and they were incredible. It’s great to combine the salt and pepper style of cooking with chips.’
Far from her high praise for salt and pepper chips, Yinrun has made a name for herself after appearing on the most recent edition of Big Brother.
After being listed by bookmakers as the top contender to win the show having reached the final, viewers were furious after she only finished in fourth place, leading them to claim that the results were ” fixed.”

Yinrun had been the bookies’ favorite to be crowned the winner of Big Brother 2023 until she was eliminated from first place at the last minute.
Despite being the favorite to win for weeks, Yinrun came in fourth place during the highly anticipated live final, ahead of only Noky.
Presenters AJ Odudu and Will Best confirmed her eviction and Jordan, Olivia and Henry beat her up, much to the shock of viewers who argued that she had been “robbed”.
The live audience seemed devastated as they were heard booing when their eviction was announced and they said goodbye to their housemates.
