A woman who has been artificially tanned for 15 years mixed six different brands because she is “never dark enough” but ended up in disaster when her face turned khaki green.
BobbieJo Houston, from Blackpool, tried mixing several different brands of fake tanners to create her own perfect bronze colour.
The 39-year-old made a mixture of Bondi Sands, St. Moriz, St. Tropez, tanning drops, tanning oils and Molly Mae’s Filter in the hopes of giving her face a “nice color in the morning.”
The mother said she has tried countless tanning methods, but is always disappointed when she washes in the morning and the color is not as dark as she would have liked.
Unfortunately, she found out the hard way that her experiment had failed when she woke up looking a little different than what she was used to.

She took to TikTok to share her panic and see if anyone had a solution to her problem, and to her surprise, more than five million people watched her crisis unfold.
Her 19-year-old daughter, Bella Bristol, was shocked by her mother’s fake tan nightmare, but at first BobbieJo didn’t think it was “that bad”, adding that she went out in public with it all over her face.
But a little later, she updated her followers on the tanning progress, saying: ‘Everything is going wrong, I’m getting greener every hour.’
‘I’ve been tanning for over 15 years and I don’t know what’s happening. I’m sleeping with a couple of towels.
‘I’m praying it’s not a green tint yet. In the light it is khaki green. You can’t see my eyebrows at all.
BobbieJo woke up at 8:30 the next morning and expressed concern because she and her daughter had a special day planned.
“Now I’m worried because my daughter and I are going to spend the day somewhere really nice,” she said.
The mother took the plunge and mixed six different types of self-tanners in the hopes that it would be the color she wanted.

She also expressed concern because both she and her daughter don’t wear makeup, so she didn’t have products to cover her vibrant fake tan.
Green fake tan stains were also stained all over her white pillowcases and comforter.
BobbieJo frantically scrubbed her face with several makeup remover wipes in a bid to remove the chemicals, adding that some followers advised her to use lemon juice.
“I didn’t think it would happen, you know? I wouldn’t have left it like that for so long, not when I have somewhere to go, I would have washed it sooner,” she said.

Luckily, BobbieJo was able to remove the fake tan in time for afternoon tea with her daughter.
She said: ‘I published a self-tanning experiment which initially turned out to be a disaster. Then I washed myself well, so to speak.
‘Millions of viewers knew I had afternoon tea on a canal cruise booked for my daughter and they all thought I would have to attend (wearing) green.
“But I surprised TikTok by correcting the mistake on my face and getting a perfect tan.”
