An Australian psychologist was left speechless after discovering her husband was leaving her for a patient – and ignored a glaring warning sign for weeks.
The anonymous mental health professional wrote in the Toni and Ryan Podcast to share his anguish after his life fell apart.
“A patient of mine told me that she was sleeping with a married man and that guilt was eating her alive,” said the psychologist, referring to the first warning sign.
“The patient said the man was going to leave his wife for her, but (she was conflicted).”
Although she was in love with her partner, she also felt bad for “being a homewrecker.”

The psychologist counseled the patient as best she could and went home, without thinking twice about the confession.
Only a few days later did she realize that she was directly involved in the matter.
“Later that week, my husband told me he was leaving me for a woman he had been sleeping with,” the psychologist revealed.
“My husband was having an affair with my patient and I couldn’t tell either of them, or anyone, because of confidentiality clauses, but I need to tell someone and I just need to scream,” she told Toni and Ryan.

Some believed that the patient had always been aware of the presence of her boyfriend’s wife.
‘(The other woman) knew it was her and that was her way of alleviating the guilt. She told (her boyfriend’s wife) without telling him,’ one guessed.
‘There is not a single universe in the multiverse where the patient does not know that her doctor is her lover’s wife. “What a shame for her,” said one woman.
Many couldn’t believe that people were willing to date people in relationships.
‘The moment you discover that someone has a partner is the moment you cut off all contact, right? If they do it to someone else, they will do it to you.
“I don’t know what’s more shocking, the whole plot twist or the fact that a married man promised his lover he would leave his wife and actually did,” another added.
