A multi-vehicle accident along the Hume Highway, northbound from the M5 and M7, has caused significant delays with traffic backing up for nine kilometers behind.

Six cars were involved, and a NSW Fire and Rescue spokesman said it was a “nose to tail” incident. The accident occurred around 5:56 a.m. Wednesday.

Emergency services are at the scene and no serious injuries have been reported at this time.

The accident occurred near Edmondson Park, two of the four northbound lanes are closed.
