A major fire has erupted from the roof of a skyscraper in downtown Manhattan, filling the skies above New York City with thick smoke.
The fire was spotted from the roof of The Set, a luxury apartment complex in the Hudson Yards neighborhood.
Firefighters rushed to the scene, at 10th Avenue and West 35th Street, after the fire broke out shortly before noon Thursday.
There were no early reports of injuries or deaths, and it is unclear what may have caused the massive fire.

Social media was quickly flooded with concerned New Yorkers sharing images of the inferno, including from across the Hudson River in New Jersey, showing a thick plume of smoke floating over the water.

According to the Citizen Crime Reporting app, firefighters reported that the fire is under control and no injuries were reported.

The Set’s rooftop terrace, where the fire appears to come from, features luxurious amenities including a swimming pool, terrace, lounge area and dining area.
Located in Hudson Yards, known for hosting some of the most exclusive and expensive residences in Manhattan, rents at The Set start at nearly $7,000 per month for one-bedroom apartments.
