A nine-year-old boy who was hit by a car while riding an electric bike with his father has lost the fight for his life in hospital.
The pair were traveling along Robina Town Center Drive in Robina on the Gold Coast when a Honda Odyssey lost control and crashed into them on Wednesday night.
Paramedics arrived at the scene within minutes and found the boy in a critically unstable condition with “multisystem trauma.”
Bystanders and paramedics performed CPR on the boy, who had to be resuscitated at the scene several times after his heart stopped beating.
Paramedics continued CPR on the way to Gold Coast University Hospital.
The boy was later taken to Queensland Children’s Hospital in Brisbane, where he sadly succumbed to his injuries on Wednesday.
His father, 46, was also rushed to hospital with serious head and arm injuries, as was the driver of the car, 47, to be assessed for chest injuries and undergo blood tests. mandatory.
Among those who witnessed the horrific accident were the boy’s mother and brother, who were also riding electric bikes but were not injured.

Acting Superintendent Scott Knowles told reporters that witnesses reported the car was allegedly driving “erratically” before colliding with the father and son, who were wearing helmets at the time.
“He had actually cut someone off before he lost control,” Acting Superintendent Knowles said.
“According to that witness, he accelerated and shortly after crashed into the center traffic island before crossing both lanes of traffic and striking the cyclists.”
Police have spoken to the driver but have not yet formally interviewed him as they await the results of mandatory blood tests.
No charges have been filed.
Investigators from the Forensic Accident Unit continued to examine the scene on Thursday.
“Those investigations will include analysis of his blood but also mechanical inspections of his vehicle,” Acting Superintendent Knowles said.
Good Samaritans rushed to the boy’s aid and performed CPR until paramedics arrived.
Investigations are expected to take some time to determine the circumstances surrounding the “very tragic” accident.
“Under the circumstances, they were no doubt enjoying some family time together and this tragedy has hit their family,” Acting Superintendent Knowles said.
‘This is certainly a tragic situation, tragic circumstances.
“It will be up to investigators to determine whether the tragedy was due to improper driving behavior, mechanical problems or what actually led to this situation.”
