An unsuspecting dog had no idea her cruel owner had just abandoned her as she watched him flee after he threw her over a chain link fence into a stranger’s backyard.
The two-year-old dachshund apparently maintained her unwavering loyalty to the man who threw herself into the enclosure, getting up and running back to the fence in confusion as her former owner walked away down the street.
But she “cried every day” when the man did not return after her cruel abandonment in the southwest valley area of Las Vegas on Monday.
The shocking images were captured by the Ring Camera of owner Michelle ‘Mickey’ Meyering, who returned home to find the young animal curled up in her backyard 90 minutes later.
“We are desperately trying to find information about the identity of this horrible subhuman who threw this dog into our yard,” he said. 8News now after watching the video.
Two-year-old dachshund ‘cried every day’ after being abandoned by his owner
The grainy footage shows the dog curled up in the arms of the unidentified man wearing shorts and a blue T-shirt as he approached the home near Flamingo Road and Torrey Pines Drive at 11 a.m.
He then runs a little towards the fence before throwing the little dog, with both arms, into the air.
She appears momentarily dazed after the 12-foot fall, but immediately runs after her master, pressing her nose against the chain-link fence to watch him disappear.
Seconds later, Meyering’s two 80-pound Weimeranas appear in the frame, running curiously to examine the intruder.
Meyering said she is baffled by the man’s motive, wondering if he wanted to place the dachshund with people who already cared for dogs, or hoped the two well-built animals would tear his pet to pieces.
But his dogs welcomed the newcomer with “open paws,” he said as he began to decide what to do with the abandoned animal.
“Luckily, our Goofball Weims seemed to really like it,” he said. “Our female comes running to her aid… Sweet Sophie Dophie.”
Meyering believes the dog may have lived in the area because its bark is familiar, but images of the man and the car he is believed to have left in are too confusing to be identifiable.
She called the Animal Foundation, which identified him as a “fawn doxie” and took him in to begin the rehoming process.
Footage shows the little dog snuggling in his owners’ arms as he approaches the backyard fence.
Seconds later, he throws it into the air and into the yard of two well-built dogs.
The unsuspecting pet immediately runs back to the fence only to see his former owner one last time as he walks away down the street.
She added that the dog was under observation after ‘it was so scared that it bit my husband in front of Animal Protection.’
The dog received new rabies shots and Meyering bought a new bed, bowls, a collar, a leash, food and a GPS tag to help whoever eventually adopts her.
Meanwhile, she is in the process of filing a police report.
“If this is your dog that ran away and another cruel person threw her away thinking she belonged to us, please go find her,” she wrote in a post on Next Door.
