“Shaken, worried, disappointed, worried about the well-being of people on all sides of what has been happening and full of questions.”

‘All of us at This Morning gave our love and support to someone who was not telling the truth, who acted in a way that they themselves felt they had to quit ITV and abandon a career they loved. “There’s a lot to process.”

‘It’s equally difficult to see the toll this has taken on his own mental health. I think what unites us all now is the desire to heal for the health and well-being of all.’

She added: “I hope that as we begin this new chapter and return to the place of warmth and magic that the show has for all of us, we can find strength in each other.”

‘And from the bottom of my heart, can I just say thank you for all your kind messages and thank you for being here this morning? “Myself, Josie, Dermot, Alison, Craig and every person who works on this show will continue to work hard every day.”

Phillip doesn’t mention his former co-star Holly in his new TV show Cast Away, but he does attack his former colleagues several times.

Despite mentioning ITV co-stars Ant and Dec, as well as Joanna Lumley, 78, Holly is not mentioned at all during the 45-minute episode.

In an outburst that will leave viewers wondering if it’s directed at her, Schofield says, “When you throw someone under a bus, you have to have a very good reason for doing it.”

‘I got into television because I love the nuts and bolts of television, I never wanted to be famous. I’m not worried about that.

‘I miss parts of it. I miss most of it, I’m honest. But there are parts that I really, really, really don’t miss.

The disgraced presenter revealed this week he was taking part in his own survival show just 16 months after leaving This Morning after admitting having a “reckless but not illegal” affair with a young colleague.

Schofield, 62, is said to have turned down a selection of big-money TV offers before opting to sign up for Cast Away, which he believes will allow him to share his story in an “untold and honest” way.

Willoughby left This Morning on October 23 after presenting the show alongside Schofield for 14 years.

Sources at the time said she quit because the show “wasn’t the same” after her co-host left, but she was ultimately “pushed to the edge” by an alleged “kidnapping and murder plot,” insiders claimed.

Meanwhile, during the episode, Schofield referred to ITV duo Ant and Dec as his “best friends”.

In May it was suggested that Declan Donnelly had allegedly been trying to convince the former presenter to return to TV, after the pair dined together for four hours.

Joanna Lumley also appeared and sent him a “good luck” message.

Mrs Lumley, 78, appeared on a similar show in 1994. “Listen, Phil, this is the advice I have,” she said.

‘Keep your knives sharp, spend much of the day trying to find wood, otherwise you won’t be able to eat anything.

‘When I was on the island I made a pair of shoes out of my bra and I’d love to think something a bit challenging could be made and brought back so we could all see it.

“I’ll be thinking about you all the time Phil, and I’m actually a little jealous, lots of love.”
