Terrifying CCTV captured the moment a man allegedly tried to kidnap a woman in broad daylight north of Melbourne.
A man has been charged after he allegedly approached a woman and tried to drag her into his gray Mitsubishi ute in Whittlesea on Friday night.
The 27-year-old woman managed to escape his clutches before the man drove away, police said.
On Saturday morning, a 39-year-old man was arrested while driving a Mitsubishi ute on the Midland Highway in Shepparton.
The Mill Park man was charged Sunday with aggravated robbery, two counts of aggravated assault and attempted kidnapping.
He is due to appear in court on October 28.
Police say the same man is believed to have approached two girls riding scooters on Oak Bank Boulevard, Whittlesea, on Friday night.
CCTV footage allegedly shows a 27-year-old woman fighting a man who allegedly tried to force her into his car.
The man fled the scene in his truck.
Victoria Police said in a statement that two girls, aged 13 and 14, ran away and were unharmed.
One of the girls, Ally Hawking, told Nine News that a man approached her asking for directions.
“He was very close to us and then he said come take a look at the back of my car and take a look at the maps and he opened the back door for us and that’s when Zoe and I left,” Ally told Nine News.
A passerby intervened and escorted the girls home.
