Australian international footballer Jackson Irvine was forced to cancel his wedding after spending two drunken days celebrating promotion.
The 31-year-old former Burton Albion and Hull City star captained German side St Pauli back to the country’s top flight following their 3-1 win over VFL Osnabruck on Sunday.
He was due to marry his fiancée Jemilla in Denmark on Tuesday, however the deteriorating footballer forgot to bring his passport to the ceremony, causing Danish officials to refuse to go ahead with the ceremony.
Jemilla, a tattoo artist, took to Instagram to share what happened, and the couple were forced to postpone the tattoo until he felt better.
“When you’ve been drunk for 2 days and you forget to bring your passport to your wedding date,” he posted along with three clown emojis.

His wedding to his partner Jemilla was delayed because he was deteriorating.
“Let’s try again tomorrow,” he added. ‘(Tonight’s party is still going on.)’
Irvine has had a successful career in European football, having signed for Celtic from Melbourne Victory in 2010.
He made one appearance for the Scottish giants before representing Kilmarnock and Ross County. In 2016, Burton paid a club record fee of £330,000 to bring him to the Midlands.
Irvine played for Hull for three seasons before returning north of the border with Hibs in 2021, and has represented Australia 66 times, contributing 11 goals for the Socceroos.
As well as captaining his club in Germany, Irvine has also worn the Socceroos armband.
