Voting officially began on Election Day when six registered voters in the town of Dixville Notch, New Hampshire, cast their ballots shortly after midnight.

The results in the small town were literally too close to call, with the half-dozen voters split three to three between Kamala Harris and Donald Trump.

It’s actually a sharp change from 2020, when Joe Biden swept the five people who voted against Trump.

Republican Gov. Kelly Ayotte edged out her Democratic opponent, 5-1, while Democrat Maggie Goodlander won the count for the city’s congressional district, 4-2.

Dixville Notch has produced the first results from the nation’s first primary since 1960 with its voting at midnight on Election Day.

With such a small sample size, the vote does not usually indicate how the election will end.

The voters, all Republicans, voted for nikki haley to midnight Tuesday, giving him a clear lead over former President Donald Trump and all other candidates.

Many Granite State voters will wake up Tuesday morning to the results of the Dixville Notch election as other polling places begin to open as residents head to work.

Voting took place in a new location, the living room of Tillotson House, while the Balsams Resort was undergoing renovations. It was a friendly atmosphere, with an 11-month-old golden retriever named Maxine greeting the media and voters.

Just 20 miles from the Canadian border, The Balsams opened their closely guarded polling place in the living room of Tillotson House to a room full of journalists documenting the votes of the city’s handful of voters.

Before the pandemic, the small New Hampshire town had twice as many residents as it does now, with a dozen votes since 2010 and even more in previous years.

Les Otten, the principal owner and developer of the Balsams Resort, spoke during the primary about how unique the event is.

‘It’s special. It really is,” Otten said. “It’s what should happen in every community in America, where there is 100% participation, everyone votes.”

“None of the six of us can complain about the outcome of the elections, because we participated.”

Dixville Notch caters to snowmobilers and Nordic skiers in the winter, and golfers and hikers in the summer.

For the primary, it had four registered Republicans and two undeclared voters.
