- FBI Didn’t Investigate Prince Andrew Because He Was Royal, Lawyer for Epstein Victims Says
US security services did not investigate Prince Andrew’s links to pedophile Jeffrey Epstein because he was a member of the royal family, a lawyer representing victims of the billionaire sex offender has claimed.
Lawyer Lisa Bloom said in the upcoming US documentary Secrets of Prince Andrew that the FBI failed to take action on witnesses who could be interviewed about the Duke of York’s possible connections to Epstein.
Bloom, who represents five of Epstein’s victims and a witness who says she saw Andrew with accuser Virginia Giuffre as a teenager, said it was decided that those at the “highest level” decided not to “pursue” the Prince, he Mirror reports.
The lawyer was reportedly confused that the FBI did not use Andrew’s famous interview with Emily Maitlis on BBC Newsnight in 2019, as he said things they “could probably refute”.
In the now famous interview, Prince Andrew claimed he was at a ‘Pizza Express in Woking’ when he had allegedly been having sex with 17-year-old Virginia Roberts, as she was then known, on March 10, 2001.

Lawyer Lisa Bloom claimed in the upcoming US documentary Secrets of Prince Andrew that the FBI failed to take action on witnesses who could be interviewed about the Duke of York’s possible connections to Epstein and alleged criminal acts.
The Duke also claimed he could not sweat due to an “adrenaline overdose” after serving in the Falklands War, as proof he was not sweating for Ms Giuffre on a dance floor.
Andrew also refused to speak to investigators under oath after they reportedly requested an interview from the UK government.
Speaking to US documentary Secrets of Prince Andrew, Ms Bloom said: “The FBI clearly decided they were not going to go after Prince Andrew.”
He questioned whether the high-level decision was made due to fears of diplomatic problems and tensions in relations with the United Kingdom.
Bloom said he believed the investigation would have continued “if it involved someone other than royalty.”
The lawyer told the documentary that if anyone else was under investigation, the FBI would have spoken to witnesses and extradited them to the States to “face justice” if they could find enough evidence.
He also called Prince Andrew “shockingly arrogant” for his decision to appear on Newsight just three months after Epstein, 66, died in his cell.
Andrew would have thought the public would “see how wonderful I am,” Ms. Bloom said. But she said the interview had the opposite effect.
Ms Bloom was reportedly confused that the FBI did not use Andrew’s famous interview with Emily Maitlis on BBC Newsnight in 2019, as he said things they could “probably disprove”.
Giuffre alleged that Prince Andrew sexually abused her when she was a minor, so if a court found him guilty of this “he could have spent many years in prison,” Bloom said.
He said the interview “could be used in court” and was a “disaster” for the Prince by making claims that the FBI could “probably” prove were false.
And also speaking of the lawsuit brought against the Duke of York in 2021 by Mrs. Giuffre, who accused him of rape and sexual abuse, which he strongly denied, he said he lost “largely.”
Andrew settled out of court for £12m but did not admit liability.
