Fat Joe’s opening number ahead of Game 3 of the 2024 World Series between the New York Yankees and the Los Angeles Dodgers had a terrible reception from MLB fans.
As the series moved from California Hills to Boogie Down Bronx, the Yankees had the rapper welcome fans to Yankee Stadium as the team entered the game with a 0-2 deficit.
However, the New York native’s lackluster performance while walking around the diamond led fans to face-palm and scalp-scratch. They then criticized the X rapper for improvising more than rapping during the four-minute mix.
“That man Fat Joe on Tims’ mound,” he captioned one of Fat Joe’s clips during the performance. “I know the gardeners off camera are having a heart attack.”
“Fat Joe’s start for the Yankees might be one of the worst things I’ve ever witnessed,” added a second.
Fat Joe came under fire from MLB fans for his lackluster performance at Yankee Stadium on Monday.
“Who thought this performance by Fat Joe before Game 3 of the #WorldSeries, in the middle of the field alone, was a good idea?” chimed in a third. “The man is having to ablib almost all three songs instead of the actual words.” .’
A fourth posted a video of a man smashing a TV while watching a game and captioned it: “Yankee fans watch Fat Joe single-handedly kill the aura of Yankee Stadium.”
Other fans took the Yankees’ response to Ice Cube’s performance in Game 2 in Los Angeles with Fat Joe as a sign of things to come for the Yankees.
“The Dodgers took out Ice Cube and the Yankees took out Fat Joe,” a fifth fan wrote with two crying emojis to caption a five-second clip of Shannon Sharpe crying.
“The Yankees brought in Fat Joe to represent the Bronx…we lost,” wrote a sixth.
Fans didn’t hesitate to criticize the Bronx native for his performance before Game 3.
“Fat Joe’s performance had great ‘Dodgers in 4’ energy,” declared a seventh.
After the Dodgers took an immediate 2-0 lead at the bottom of the first inning, another user claimed, “This home run is by Fat Joe.” Plain and simple.
The Yankees got off to an unpleasant start in the World Series despite beating the Guardians in the American League Championship Series. In Game 1, the Bronx Bombers blew a 3-2 lead with the game at their mercy when Freddy Freeman scored a slam to win the game 6-3.
The second game was no better for the Yankees as the Dodgers won 4-2, remaining in the driver’s seat even though Shohei Ohtani suffered a shoulder injury and left early.
The Dodgers derailed a Subway Series by all means by defeating the New York Mets in six games in the National League Championship Series after beating the San Diego Padres in five games to advance.
