Caitlin Clark has left fans in disbelief after revealing what it’s like to play under Indiana Fever coach Christie Sides.
Clark, the No. 1 pick in this year’s WNBA Draft, is enjoying a breakout rookie season with the Fever after breaking a number of records in her storied college career at Iowa.
While she’s been at the center of widespread controversy off it, the 22-year-old is already justifying the hype on the court, leading the way for rookies when it comes to points per game with 16.2.
And surprisingly, he seems to be earning his place in the big leagues without much on-field guidance.
Following Indiana’s 89-77 loss to the Seattle Storm on Friday night, Clark was asked what the best in-game advice he had received from a veteran teammate was so far this season.

However, his surprising response has opened Sides to fierce criticism on social media.
‘Nobody gives me advice in the game. I wish they would,’ he admitted.
Even though the initial question was about Clark’s teammates, fans quickly took to X to criticize Sides and question her influence as a coach.
One wrote: ‘@fever Remind me again… Why is @ChristieSides the head coach again?’
“Sides needs to disappear,” another user commented.
A third posted: “Oh Christie Sides count your days.”
A fourth place: ‘the COACH could do that…’
While one simply said: ‘Goodbye ‘Coach’ Sides.’
During last Sunday’s loss to the Chicago Sky, a clip of Clark appearing to argue with Sides on the court surfaced on social media.
Clark hinted that he doesn’t get any advice from Sides during Fever games.
Fans quickly took to social media to criticize Sides and call for Indiana to fire the coach.
It turned out to be a disappointing night for Indiana after losing the lead in the final two and a half minutes of the game and failing to regain it, with Angel Reese, Chennedy Carter and Camilla Cardoso inspiring Chicago to victory late.
While the hosts finished strong at Wintrust Arena, Clark failed to make an impact in the latter stages of the game after choosing to pass to her teammates on several occasions rather than seek glory herself.
Incredibly, the former college sensation only took two shots in the final seven minutes, despite being one of the best shooters in women’s basketball for many years.
Fans were angered by his lack of involvement in the fourth quarter, with some calling for Clark to be more “selfish” and others pointing the finger at Sides’ tactics.
And as Sunday’s game neared its end, the aforementioned pair had what seemed like a heated exchange on the court.
Clark could be seen gesturing furiously with his right arm outstretched as he spoke to Sides, before the Fever coach responded to his complaints.

Her player didn’t seem too pleased with the answer, however, and instead spread both arms out before sighing to let her frustrations be known.
One user suggested on social media: ‘Christie Sides and Caitlin Clark got into an argument towards the end of the game. Clark didn’t like Sides’ game plan.
“This is going to be a problem because Christie Sides moved away from the pick & roll and Chicago was having trouble stopping him. Indiana would have won this game.”
