Football fans have been impressed with the Premier League’s new goal-scoring animation, with some claiming the commentators have “upped their game”.
With the new Premier League season getting underway over the weekend, Premier League Productions has developed a series of new scoreboard animations that will change as each club scores a goal.
Each club is represented by a separate emblem, icon or traditional feature of their club in the animation, with fans online debating who has the best graphic.
The Liverpool animation features a bright image of a Liverbird, which appears on the club’s crest and is synonymous with the city.
After Brighton scored against Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday, Premier League Productions showed an animation of a seagull flying over the scoreboard – the south coast side were given the nickname the Seagulls.
Football fans have praised the Premier League for its new goal scoreboard graphics.
Many were enamoured with the graphics, with one fan writing: “The Premier League has really stepped up its game.”
Goals from Kai Havertz and Bukayo Saka for Arsenal in their 2-0 win over Wolves caused a cannon to appear on the scoreboard graphic, which subsequently flashed the word “GOAL”. Arsenal are known as the Gunners and have a cannon on their crest, as the club was founded by members of the Royal Arsenal armaments factory in Woolwich, London.
Manchester United sealed a late win against Fulham on Friday night, with new signing Joshua Zirkzee scoring in what was a dream debut. After the Red Devils’ goal went in, the scoreboard graphic showed a pair of pitchforks and the word “GOAL” on a fiery background.
Newcastle’s animation also got people talking online, with the scoreboard changing to the club’s black and white stripes and the word ‘TOON ARMY’ appearing.
Many were enamoured with the graphics, with one fan writing: “The Premier League has really stepped up its game.”
“Premier League Productions, you’ve outdone yourself,” added another, pointing out that the broadcaster had also added specific graphics for the goalscorers.
“Congratulations to the designers behind this. I’m so glad PL is back,” added another.
Fans have applauded the casters for the new graphics, with one writing: ‘Premier League Productions, you have outdone yourselves.’
Others debated who had the best goal scoring graphics, with some pointing to Arsenal, Manchester United and Brighton.
One also added: ‘Sky and TNT, why could you put so much love into your coverage.’
Meanwhile, others have been offering their views on which club has the best graphics, with many fans appearing to vote for Arsenal.
“Arsenal have the best here. The cannon literally shoots at goal,” wrote one.
“Ours is awful, Brighton and Arsenal look great,” said one, while another added: “United and Arsenal look great.”
“This is what you get when you allow designers creative freedom. United’s is insane,” added another.
Mohamed Salah scored for Liverpool this weekend to help the Reds beat Ipswich 2-0
Kai Havertz also scored to help Arsenal seal a 2-0 win against Wolves on Saturday.
“I’m not going to lie, I thought the Liverpool one would be a bit more exciting. But I do like the new animations implemented.”
Meanwhile, several other clubs including Southampton, Fulham, Ipswich, Everton, Wolves and Chelsea who failed to score over the weekend are yet to figure out what their animations look like.
