Also new on all iPhone 16 models is the camera control button. Like the shutter button on a full-size camera, it reacts to different levels of pressure. A gentle press will track focus on iPhone 16 Pro models, or you can swipe to cycle through zoom levels. A harder press will take a photo, and a longer press will record a video.
As for the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max models, they’re a bit bigger! Apple has reduced the borders around the display to allow for larger screens – 6.3 and 6.9 inches (compared to 6.1 and 6.7 before). There are a number of other small improvements on these phones, including the fact that 5X optical zoom is now available on the smaller iPhone 16 Pro. You can read more about the iPhone 16 range in our detailed rundown of these new iPhones.
Preorders begin September 13. iPhone 16 is priced at $799, iPhone 16 Plus at $899, iPhone 16 Pro at $999, and iPhone 16 Pro Max at $1,199. All go on sale September 20.Julian Chokkattu
A new look for the Apple Watch
This is the 10th anniversary of the original Apple Watch, and to celebrate this historic event, Apple has redesigned the latest addition to the line, the Watch Series 10. First, it’s significantly lighter and thinner than its predecessor, the Series 9. It has the largest display ever on an Apple Watch, with 30 percent more screen area making its display even larger than the massive Apple Watch Ultra series. This new display has more rounded edges and a wider-angle OLED display so that it can be seen better when you’re not looking directly at the screen.
The new watch is available in a sleek, jet-black version that looks downright appetizing and has been polished with silicon nanoparticles, making it reflective. Among other tweaks to make it slimmer, the speaker system has been redesigned so you can play podcasts directly through the Apple Watch’s speakers. There’s also a more efficient charging coil that helps the watch charge up to 80 percent battery in 30 minutes. (No word on how much better the battery life is, if any.)
