England fan goes viral for her Mail Sport interview which attracts over 25 million views… as Three Lions supporters react to her wholesome message to Gareth Southgate

An England fan has gone viral on social media following an interview with Mail Sport after England’s win over the Netherlands.

The Three Lions have reached their second successive European Championship final after Ollie Watkins scored a dramatic last-gasp winner on Wednesday night.

Gareth Southgate’s men fell behind early in the game when Xavi Simons opened the scoring and Kane scored from the penalty spot before Watkins’ goal.

And after the match, Mail Sport interviewed sports presenter Jolie Sharpe, who delivered a message to Gareth Southgate.

Asked what his reaction was to Watkins’ goal, he said: “I can’t remember, I had loads of beer on my face, but it was unbelievable. Bring on the final!”

Sharpe then told Southgate: “Keep going like this. Put the haters aside, you’re doing a good job. Keep hope and we’ll get there.”

The clip has attracted 25.5 million viewers on X, formerly known as Twitter, and fans have reacted positively to his message to the England manager.

One said: ‘Southgate definitely pulled the right strings with his substitutions today and they paid off in a big way.’

Another wrote: “Finally someone who appreciates Southgate!”, while a third added: “Exactly! Well said.”

“We’re all for England, they’re finally coming home,” said a fourth fan reacting to the Mail Sport video.

However, one fan was confused by the praise for Southgate, saying the England manager had been “lucky”.

He said: ‘Southgate hasn’t done anything spectacular to get praise, individual brilliance from players, luck and, like today, referees helping them, Southgate is not HIM’.

England will be looking to go one step further and win their first major trophy since 1966 when they take on Spain in Sunday’s final in Berlin.
