Eamonn Holmes couldn’t hide his true feelings live on air on Wednesday after it was announced that Phillip Schofield will be returning to TV next week.
The 64-year-old presenter was presenting GB News as usual during the news bulletin and although the Irish broadcaster did not speak on the matter, his reaction said it all as he poked fun at the announcement.
Her co-host Isabel Webster introduced the segment to an incredibly negative reception from the panel as GP Dr Renee Hoenderkamp raged: “Isn’t this just a narcissist’s chance to get more screen time for themselves?
“I don’t want to know his story, I’m not interested. I know he’s a celebrity and people seem to absorb any news, whether good or bad, but I think it’s time for him to stay on the island.”
Former Home Secretary Norman Baker agreed: “So what? I don’t want to know anything about it, I’m not interested.”
Eamonn Holmes’ reaction said it all as he responded to news of Phillip Schofield’s shock TV return live on GB News on Wednesday amid the pair’s bitter long-running feud.
Phillip’s new Channel 5 show Cast Away will air over three nights from Monday 30 September to Wednesday 2 October, in three 60-minute instalments.
“Why does The Sun devote two pages to it? I suppose that sells newspapers, but is that the most important thing about newspapers?”
Trying to bring some balance to the discussion, as Eamonn remained silent, Isabel continued: ‘Well, he was one of our most prominent presenters in the country, he was married with two children when the scandal broke.
‘She lost all her TV work, including Dancing On Ice, she fell out with her former best friend and co-presenter Holly Willoughby, who, frankly, didn’t lose her job as a result of all that?’
When Norman sarcastically replied: “My heart is bleeding,” Eamonn couldn’t help but burst out laughing as he poked fun at Phillip Schofield’s plight.
The announcer was then heard adding: “Very good” before the conversation drifted to another topic.
Eamonn’s reaction will come as no surprise to the public after the pair’s long and bitter feud.

But that all changed in 2019, when Eamonn’s now-estranged wife and This Morning co-host Ruth Langsford filed an official complaint against Phillip.

Later in November 2021, Eamonn and Ruth were controversially booted from the show after 15 years and replaced on the Friday show by Dermot O’Leary and Alison Hammond.

Eamonn later described the statement as “delusional” and added: “Trust me, Pip, if you’re looking for a fight, you’ve messed with the wrong person.”
Eamonn was particularly upset at being sacked by ITV, claiming he was never given a clear reason.
Her selection was made all the more frustrating by her belief that Phillip had received unwavering support from ITV, despite his behaviour off the set – a belief shared by Phillip’s former co-presenter Fern Britton and Amanda Holden, who briefly presented This Morning alongside him in 2015 while Holly was on maternity leave.
The incident confirmed Eamonn’s belief that Phillip had been constantly feted despite his bad behaviour behind the scenes, sources said.
Following his stint on GB News, Eamonn appeared less restrained in his public criticism of Phillip and Holly, with the star liking a meme that mocked the pair for “queue-jumping” at the Queen’s funeral last year.
