A terminally ill man hopes to beat cancer so he can be reunited with his wife, even though she planned to shoot, poison, and blow him up on their wedding anniversary.

Ray Weatherall’s wife Hayley, 38, conspired with her secret lover, who was also her best friend for 20 years, to kill her devoted husband in a series of savage plots, which he survived. Powell’s daughter, Heather, was also involved.

She and Glenn Pollard were sentenced to life in prison after he suffered a gunshot wound to the face, a pool heater explosion and a plot to end his life with sleeping pills and insulin.

The father of seven, who suffers from terminal brain cancer, still has the bullet scar and second-degree burns that remind him of the incidents.

But more than five years after she was caged, Weatherall says he will “hang in there” until Hayley is freed in nine years and has “totally forgiven” her.

Despite her condition, he still makes 200-mile trips each month to see her at HMP Bronzefield, in Ashford, Surrey, and hopes to throw a “big party” when she finally gets out.

“My goal is to survive long enough for Hayley to get out of prison and return home,” he told Mirror. ‘This house is both yours and mine. I can’t wait to have her back. He should have been dead years ago.

‘It’s a miracle he’s here. My goal is to see her walk through that door. I’ll be alive long enough for that. People say I’m angry but I don’t care. I visit her every month and we kiss and hug and it’s lovely.

Hayley was brainwashed. She was a fool. He has always been easily fooled. And he’s serving a life sentence for that stupidity. But I completely blame my old friend Glenn.

Weatherall says he doesn’t want to see his former best friend again and that he won’t be invited to Hayley’s release party.

He and Pollard had been friends for more than 20 years and went shooting together.

The loyal husband has already surprised viewers with his forgiveness: he bought his wife Christmas gifts to enjoy in prison just months after his incarceration.

A family friend told the Mirror he wanted to give her perfume, but as liquids were not allowed in prison, he chose a Boyzone CD.

Despite a judge calling Mrs Weatherall “cold, calculated” and “impatient” over her husband’s death, her husband claimed they “made her worse than she is”.

Ray had been told he had months to live when Heather, who goes by the name Arthur, shot him in the face like a “sniper” after a series of failed attempts on his life.

They included exploding a pool heater that left him with second-degree burns, drowning him while fishing and poisoning him with insulin.

Weatherall was unaware that his wife and best friend of 20 years were trying to kill him after planning a new life together.

At the trial, Maidstone Crown Court was told that the non-fatal shooting triggered a long and intricate investigation by Kent Police, which uncovered a series of other failed attempts on the man’s life, planned before and after the shooting. .

Shortly after they were jailed, Weatherall told Good Morning Britain that Glenn had been the main instigator of the plot and that his wife was “dragged into it”.

He said: ‘I am disgusted with Glenn and his daughter. Without a doubt, Glenn was the driving force behind it all. It makes me sick that my wife got involved in all this.

‘It was probably two or three months before I found out what was really going on. She started to be a little cold to me.

‘Until that moment we never had any problems. I still don’t understand how he got into all this.

Their plans began to unravel in January after Ray’s niece, Emma Worsfold, tipped off police that they were trying to kill Ray after learning of the affair.

Kent police raided his homes and quickly recovered the bolt-action rifle used to shoot him.

Electrical devices were analyzed and hundreds of messages between Glenn and Heather were discovered, including about how they planned to kill their love rival.

The jury also heard of other events that threatened the victim’s life between the summer of 2017 and the spring of 2018, attributed simply to accidents.

Mr Weatherall was blown up when his burner exploded, he was set up to drown during a fishing trip with Pollard and is suspected of being poisoned.

Glenn Pollard was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 17 years, while the other two were sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 15 years.

Heather Pollard was seen laughing in the dock with her father before the sentence was handed down.

Jurors heard that the treacherous Pollard had a license to carry weapons and “brainwashed” his daughter, who was Mr Weatherall’s great-niece, into firing the “sniper” shot last November.

He was shot in the face at Sandwich Marina in Kent, but survived when the bullet hit his right cheekbone.

Ray was diagnosed with brain cancer in August 2015 and was given just 18 months to live the following year thanks to daily insulin injections for his diabetes.
