Heartbroken survivors of the Sicily superyacht disaster are “constantly asking about missing people” while six remain unaccounted for.

The luxury yacht Bayesian was docked off the coast of Porticello, near Palermo, when a ‘whirlwind’ hit the area shortly before 5am this morning.

The boat quickly disappeared beneath the waves, claiming one life, while six people, including British and American tourists, remain missing.

Doctor Domenico Cipolla, director of the Pediatric Admission Service and of Medicine and Surgery at the “Di Cristina” Hospital in Palermo, said the remaining survivors are “constantly” checking whether their missing friends are okay.

“The survivors are very tired and constantly asking about missing people. As far as I know, only one body has been found, the others are still missing,” he said.

Dr Domenico Cipolla said the remaining survivors are “constantly” looking for news that their missing friends are safe.

‘We have given this information to the survivors, but they talk and cry all the time because they have realised that there is little hope of finding their friends alive.

‘By the way, I know there were some young people on board, some very young.

“They are very tired and continually thank us for the care and attention we give them and the little girl. They are very tired but they are very sweet people.”

Fifteen of the 22 people on board the yacht were rescued by a nearby Dutch ship. The six people still missing are feared to have been sleeping in their cabins when the yacht sank.

The superyacht was illuminated and illuminating the night sky when suddenly a jet of water appeared very close to the boat.

Shortly before 5 a.m., the yacht became trapped in the channel and then suddenly disappeared, according to witnesses.

Lynch had reportedly invited family and friends to the sailboat to celebrate the dismissal of fraud and conspiracy charges for allegedly conspiring to inflate the value of a company before selling it.

He had gathered guests from law firm Clifford Chance and his own company Invoke Capital after being acquitted in June.
