A member of the Texas Democratic delegation was robbed at gunpoint during the party’s national convention, according to a report.
The 25-year-old victim was walking through downtown Chicago at 2 a.m. Wednesday during the Democratic National Convention when a black Range Rover pulled up beside him and armed men wearing ski masks got out.
The suspects are believed to have been involved in a series of robberies across the city. Chicago CWB reported.
The attackers took the man’s wallet and room keys and then crossed the street to rob another person, the report said.
Chicago police described the attackers as two black men dressed in black, between 5’7″ and 5’9″ tall.
The U.S. Secret Service had warned Democratic National Convention attendees as they left the United Center on Wednesday night to remove their credentials, as there have been multiple attempted thefts since the convention began.
Donald Trump has been highly critical of crime in Chicago and has compared it to Afghanistan.
He also criticized Kamala Harris, saying she will cause “crime, chaos, destruction and death” if elected.
