Damian Lewis was joined by his girlfriend Alison Mosshart on Tuesday night while attending the Josephine Hart Poetry Foundation in London.
The actor and musician was on hand to read selected poems at the American Ambassadors Residence, where he was also joined by Downton Abbey star Elizabeth McGovern and screen veteran Charles Dance.
Created in memory of Hart, a writer, theater producer and presenter, following her death aged 69 in 2011, the Poetry Foundation helps develop arts, culture and education across the UK, with an emphasis on theater and poetry.
Poems by Elizabeth Bishop, Emily Dickinson, TS Eliot, Robert Frost and Robert Lowell were selected for Tuesday’s reading, and Lewis, 53, once again showed his support for the foundation by reading them at the intimate gathering.
The actor, who will soon return to TV screens as Henry VIII in Wolf Hall: The Mirror And The Light, looked appropriately dapper in a gray two-piece suit and black leather boots.
Damian Lewis was accompanied by his girlfriend Alison Mosshart on Tuesday night as he attended the Josephine Hart Poetry Foundation in London.
The actor and musician was present to read selected poems at the United States Ambassadors Residence.
Joining her boyfriend, Mosshart. 45, singer and guitarist of the rock bands The Kills and Dead Weather, showed his support by wearing a sweater dedicated to poetry and the musical collective The Last Poets.
Other guests on the night included Good Omens actress Gloria Obianyo and Gangs Of London and Brassic star Parth Thakerar.
Lewis and Mosshart were first seen together in the summer of 2022, and the American musician’s mother, Vivian, gave the relationship her seal of approval shortly after.
She told MailOnline: ‘They have friends in common. I don’t know exactly how they met, but I’m fine with that. “If she’s happy, we’re happy.”
The romance blossomed a year after Lewis’ wife of 14 years, Helen McCrory, tragically passed away after a secret battle with breast cancer.
The actor later revealed how his wife had urged him to find love again, telling him and their children that she wanted “dad to have a lot of girlfriends.”
On social media, he added: ‘She died as she lived. Without fear. God we love her and we know how lucky we are to have had her in our lives. She shined so brightly. She sees now, Little One, in the air.’
Last year, Lewis revealed a surprise career change to pursue his passion for music and released his debut album in June 2023.
Downton Abbey star Elizabeth McGovern (right) was also in attendance on Tuesday night.
Lewis and McGovern were joined by screen veteran Charles Dance during a recital of selected verses by poets Elizabeth Bishop, Emily Dickinson, TS Eliot, Robert Frost and Robert Lowell.
McGovern looked typically elegant in a black and white evening dress during her appearance at the event on Tuesday night.
The Homeland star recently revealed that he felt a sense of comfort when he released the album, as it included lyrics in tribute to his late wife.
McCrory died in April 2021 aged 52 after being diagnosed with cancer, and Damian was sure to pay tribute to the Peaky Blinders star in his music.
Lewis is currently touring the album and reflected on the writing process during an appearance on This Morning last month.
Set up in Hart’s memory, the Poetry Foundation helps develop arts, culture and education across the UK, with a focus on drama and poetry.
