The mother of a Colombian actress let two men into her home, where they tied her up, assaulted her and then stole her money.

Actress Johanna Fadul shared surveillance footage on her Instagram showing the suspects meeting her mother, Maria Fadul, at the door as her two dogs briefly ran outside the Bogota residence on Tuesday.

In the video clip, Maria Fadul can be seen giving the attackers a tour of the two-story house before being terrorized.

“I’m going to show you the faces of these miserable people. I need you to help me denounce them,” said Johanna Fadul in the video. “Today it was my mother, tomorrow it could be anyone. This country is terribly unsafe.”

The actress, best known for her role in the hit series ‘Sin senos no hay paraíso’, told Semana that the incident occurred just two weeks after a man visited her mother’s neighbor and expressed interest in buying her house.

The same individual also managed to visit Maria’s house and the two agreed to stay in touch regarding a possible sale.

“Today this man called her and told her that two other people also wanted to see the house because they were interested in doing business, so he let them in,” said Johanna Fadul.

The concerned star said the suspects threatened her mother with a gun and a knife and then forced her into the bathroom, where they tied her to a chair.

A frightened Maria Fadul finally relented and told the suspects where they could find $2,700 in cash.

The suspects also left the home with several computers, cell phones and even the house keys.

They also wanted to steal his vehicle, but fortunately it was at a local mechanic’s shop receiving service.

Johanna Fadul, who is currently outside Colombia, accused government leaders of failing to ensure the safety of its residents.

“It’s a shame not knowing what to say or what to think,” he said. “It’s very sad, it’s very sad that in such a beautiful country, with such beautiful people, the country is in the state it is in because of three people on the podium,” he said.

‘And since they don’t suffer what the people really suffer, what do they care because in the end it’s not with them?’

The commander of the Metropolitan Police of Bogotá, Colonel Pedro Saavedra, reported that an operation has been launched to identify and locate the two individuals.

“Our officers have all the operational and technological capabilities to be able to capture these people, with material evidence such as videos,” he said in a statement.

The latest crime statistics released by Bogotá authorities showed that 2,651 home burglaries were reported in the first six months of 2024, a 36 percent decrease compared to the same period last year.
