One man is dead and another is fighting for his life after another horrific crash on Queensland’s Bruce Highway.
Emergency services were called to the Bruce Highway near the intersection of Stratford and Mountain Roads, about 10 kilometres south of Tiaro, shortly after midday on Thursday following reports of a multi-vehicle crash.
A 59-year-old man died at the scene.
Paramedics treated the driver of a car for life-threatening injuries after his vehicle and two others, including a truck, collided.
Police confirmed the two vehicles — a car towing a trailer and a pickup truck following it — were traveling north on the highway when the crash occurred.
The truck was heading south and crashed into the side rails of the highway after colliding with the two vehicles.
Police at the scene are investigating whether a wheel that had come loose from the caravan caused the accident.
“Initially, what we have been able to establish is that a wheel has fallen off the caravan and as a consequence it has caused the collision of the two vehicles,” explained the police. The courier mail.

Firefighters from the Queensland Fire Department had to free one of the people from the rubble, while a rescue helicopter was called but was decommissioned shortly afterwards.
Police have established a crime scene and closed a section of the Bruce Highway.
The road is expected to remain closed for a significant period of time while officers from the Forensic Crash Unit examine the crash scene.
Motorists are urged to avoid the area and turn drivers around or divert them through Bauple.
The accident comes just days after three women were killed in a bus crash on the same road.
The Greyhound bus collided with a 4×4 vehicle towing a caravan along the Bruce Highway near the Wilson Creek rest area, between Gumlu and Wangaratta, at 12.50pm on Sunday.
There were about 33 people on the Greyhound intercity bus travelling between Bowen and Townsville. Two people were travelling in the car towing the caravan.
Police have confirmed that a 56-year-old Townsville woman was killed in the crash. She is believed to have been travelling with her daughter, who was not injured, from Brisbane to Townsville.
Two women, aged between 20 and 30, also died in the collision, while two older people aged 23 and 24 were rushed to Townsville Hospital in a critical condition.
Two men, aged 24 and 23, are in a critical condition in a Townsville hospital.
