The high-society wife of a financier who took his own life after running up ‘millions’ of dollars in debt has put her Hamptons property up for sale and fled to Miami.
Candice Miller has put her $15.5 million Water Mill mansion up for sale following the death of her husband Brandon Miller.
She and her two daughters are said to be moving to Florida for a fresh start, sources told Page Six.
“She’s in New York,” a source said. “She’s moving to Miami before school starts and has enrolled her kids in a Miami school.”
The couple was in dire financial straits before Miller’s suicide last month, and Miller had to take out several huge loans using the Hamptons home as collateral.
New York influencer Candice Miller, whose husband Brandon Miller took his own life amid mounting financial troubles, has put her Hamptons estate up for sale.
Mounting debts prompted them to sell their TriBeCa townhouse in 2021. The family had been living in an Upper East Side mansion that cost $47,000 a month. The New York Times reported.
The Hamptons property is now on the market through high-end real estate brokerage Bespoke Real Estate with an asking price of $15.495 million.
The 8,764-square-foot residence features seven bedrooms, eight bathrooms, a heated pool, “state-of-the-art amenities and top-of-the-line finishes throughout,” according to the listing.
“Located on the famous Cobb Isle Road, this property features a gated entrance, ensuring privacy and tranquility,” the listing states.
‘Its prime location offers easy water access with Mecox Bay, Burnett Creek and Mill Creek nearby, and is just minutes from Flying Point Beach.’
The stunning property was a regular feature on Candice Miller’s Mama and Tata Instagram page (since deleted) for her lifestyle brand of the same name.
The seven-bedroom mansion has gone on the market for $14.5 million with Bespoke Real Estate.
The account frequently featured lavish displays of wealth, including extravagant parties, designer clothes and luxury getaways.
In fact, Brandon Miller is believed to have owed approximately $17 million at the time of his death and was being sued for $221,000.
His attempts to steady the ship led him to take out a series of loans using the family home in the Hamptons as collateral, according to financial records reviewed by The New York Times.
This included a $6.1 million loan from a traditional bank, as well as a $2 million loan from a company that advertised same-day loans.
The couple also spent $180,000 on rented furniture for a year, plus $12,000 a month after that, according to a lawsuit that claims Brandon Miller owed the rental company $100,000.
The apartment’s “downsize” still couldn’t cover costs, and Brandon Miller stopped paying several bills, including docking fees for a million-dollar speedboat.
Before his death, Miller had accumulated huge debts and taken out several loans using the Hamptons house as collateral.
While the family was on vacation, the real estate mogul got into his car and left it running until the garage filled with toxic gas.
The buildup triggered a carbon monoxide alarm that alerted the Southampton, New York, fire department and sent a notification to Candice Miller, DailyMail.com previously reported.
But he missed the July 1 warning because he was sleeping in his $2,000-a-night hotel on the Amalfi Coast, a friend told DailyMail.com.
Reports have since emerged that she was aware of the mounting financial problems before she left for the holiday, but that her husband had assured her everything was under control.
Friends told the New York Times that Brandon Miller encouraged his wife to go on vacation by insisting that everything was paid for.
He is believed to have owed approximately $17 million at the time of his death.
Candice and her sister Jenna Crespi created Mama & Tata, Candice (the mom) joining forces with Jenna (tata, the aunt) for their lifestyle blog.
However, she was left mortified after her credit cards were reportedly declined while she was in Europe.
Miller reportedly took her own life after a major business deal fell through while she was away.
Since her husband’s death, Candice Miller has faced lawsuits for back pay, the family boat has been repossessed and her lifestyle brand has disappeared.
“Candice is devastated by the loss of her soulmate, and the lives of her two young daughters are forever impacted by the loss of their beloved father,” a family spokesperson previously told The New York Times.
