- Jeff Fenech’s daughter Kayla is dating NRL star Bradman Best
- Fenech was furious when he discovered that she was with a football player.
- The boxing legend has since changed his mind on the matter.
Former Australian boxing world champion Jeff Fenech didn’t react well when his daughter Kayla told him she was in a relationship with an NRL star, but now his feelings have changed.
Fenech’s daughter, Kayla, 28, said News Corporation that her father “went crazy” when she called him to tell him she was dating Newcastle centre Bradman Best.
“I always warned my daughters not to date players in the league,” Fenech told The Daily Telegraph.
‘I’ve been hanging around footballers all my life.
‘They are young and they love to go out and have a good time.
‘So when she called me and told me, I was furious. I told her off. She kept trying to say, “Dad, he’s a lovely boy.” Kayla told me every day how nice he was.
‘Bradman knew he was angry, but he told Kayla, “I will prove your father wrong,” and he has.’
The country’s top boxer and Best now get along well, and the two even do boxing training together.

Kayla, who met Best through social media, says her father has since changed his mind.
“Maybe he was trying to impress his future father-in-law,” Jeff said.
‘He was very impressive when we trained.
“When we met, you could tell he was a nice guy. He treats Kayla wonderfully, like a gentleman. They are very happy. So are my wife Suzee and I.
“The only time I got dirty was when he scored two tries against my team Parramatta last weekend and beat us.”
Kayla, who met Best through social media, has now moved to Newcastle to be closer to him.
“He’s a good person, very sensible and he treats me very well,” she said.
Best (pictured) has even done boxing training with the former champion.
Kayla says the Newcastle powerhouse is very down-to-earth and treats her well.
Fenech said the only time he was angry was when Best scored against his team Parramatta.
‘Simply a good person in every way and with a big heart.
“It’s actually perfect.”
Best is likely to be considered for the NSW Blues if Latrell Mitchell is ruled out due to a foot injury that may require surgery.
Best made his debut for the Blues in Game III of last year’s Origin series, scoring two tries in NSW’s victory.
