Bournemouth goalkeeper Neto will undergo Arsenal medical ahead of a loan move to the Gunners – as Mikel Arteta’s side look for Aaron Ramsdale replacement

Arsenal are finalising their attempts to sign Bournemouth goalkeeper Neto on loan, with the shot-stopper due to undergo a medical at the north London club before the transfer window closes tonight.

Southampton agreed a deal to sign Ramsdale earlier this week, which could rise to £25million, and Mikel Arteta’s side have subsequently opened talks to sign Joan Garcia from Espanyol.

But talks appear to have stalled and Arsenal will no longer pursue the Espanyol goalkeeper at this stage.

Arsenal were also not prepared to cope with Espanyo’s £16m valuation of Garcia.

Instead, the Gunners appear to be close to finalising a loan deal for the 35-year-old Bournemouth goalkeeper that does not include an obligation or option to buy the 35-year-old Brazilian.

This comes as Aaron Ramsdale looks set to leave Arsenal, with Southampton having agreed a deal.

Mikel Arteta’s side are reportedly willing to sign Neto on loan and will be under no obligation to buy.

Neto joined Bournemouth in 2022 from Barcelona, ​​having played for Valencia, Juventus and Fiorentina before that.

Following his arrival, Neto has stepped up to become Bournemouth’s first-choice goalkeeper, with Andoni Iraola handing him the captain’s armband last season, and the goalkeeper has made 32 league appearances, accumulating seven clean sheets.

Meanwhile, Ramsdale was due to undergo a medical on Tuesday evening ahead of his move to the south coast.

Neto has stepped up to become Bournemouth’s first-choice goalkeeper, having been handed the captain’s armband by Andoni Iraola last season.

The Gunners had told Ramsdale he could leave the club if they made him a suitable offer.
