President Joe Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris made their first joint appearance since last week’s crushing presidential election loss to former President Donald Trump.
Biden and Harris, appearing stoic, stood side by side Monday morning to commemorate Veterans Day at Arlington Cemetery.
They didn’t speak to each other as they walked to their positions for the somber moment.
Their spouses, Dr. Jill Biden and Doug Emhoff, were in the crowd nearby.
It has been six days since former President Donald Trump won the presidential election, defeating Harris in all seven battleground states.

On Wednesday, Harris returned to the Howard University campus, where her election night revelry took place, to officially concede the race to the former Republican president.
Then on Thursday, a cheerful-looking Biden addressed the election from the White House Rose Garden and told staff they had a lot to be proud of.
Biden did not join Harris at his Howard concession speech and she was not at his side when he addressed Cabinet members, staff and reporters at the White House.
The 81-year-old had been largely sidelined from the campaign for Harris in the run-up to the election, after he appeared to call Trump supporters “trash” on a Zoom the same night his vice president was doing her “trash.” final argument.” speech at the Ellipse.
The White House maintained that Biden was referring to a Trump-aligned comedian as “trash” after referring to Puerto Rico as a “floating island of trash.”
During Monday’s program, when Army Cemeteries Office Executive Director Karen Durham-Aguilera announced the presence of Harris and Emhoff, applause broke out from the crowd.
Biden applauded heartily.
Secretary of State Antony Blinken hugged Emhoff.
Biden will host Trump at the White House on Wednesday for a meeting, part of the traditional peaceful transition of power.
Trump did not extend the same courtesy to Biden four years earlier when he falsely claimed the 2020 election had been stolen from him due to widespread voter fraud.
