Mumbai Indians will play their first home match of the IPL 2024 at the Wankhede Stadium on Monday when they take on Rajasthan Royals. The build-up to the match was all about the pressure Hardik Pandya is facing after the side’s two consecutive defeats. With Pandya replacing five-time IPL champion Rohit Sharma at the helm, the focus is even more on the star all-rounder. In recent matches he has been booed incessantly by the crowd. And former India star Sanjay Manjrekar had an interesting message for the Wankhede crowd at the match toss on Monday.
‘We have the two captains with me. Hardik Pandya – captain of Mumbai Indians. Grand applause. Ladies and gentlemen, behave,” he said. It was quite a unique gesture that is rarely seen on the cricket field.
