A beauty queen accused of hiring a hitman to kill her ex-husband claims her boyfriend tried to suffocate her with a pillow.
Lindsay Shiver and her then-boyfriend Terrance Adrien Bethel, 28, are accused of conspiring to murder former NFL player Robert Shiver using hitman Faron Newbold, 29.
She had been detained in the Bahamas since her arrest last July, but a judge ruled in December that she could return to the United States to see her three children for the holidays.
Shiver found a new boyfriend, Dorsey Ryan Love, 35, in Alabama after she was allowed to return to the U.S. and the trial was delayed indefinitely, with the next court date not until October.
But she alleged the relationship also ended badly when Love threw her onto a bed and threatened to kill her on July 25.

Love was arrested in Dothan, Alabama, on July 31 and charged with strangulation. He also faces three other unrelated prior charges, including identity theft.
Shiver alleged he threw her onto the bed at the Cherokee Avenue home in Dothan, then strangled her and put a pillow over her face to suffocate her.
She also filed a protective order against Love on July 29 detailing the alleged attack, and claimed he also abused her during a vacation in Tampa, Florida, which she did not report to police at the time.
“He threatened to kill me,” she said.
A Bahamian judge allowed Lindsay to return to the United States on December 21 under certain conditions.
She is prohibited from being within 100 feet of her husband, a former NFL player, must remain in the state of Alabama and has been placed on an electronic monitor.
The mother of three is only allowed to return to Georgia, where her husband lives, to file for divorce or custody.
She claimed that Robert agreed to allow her visitation rights to their children and accused him of subsequently denying her access.

Prosecutors said the trio discussed the attempted murder over WhatsApp before Shiver sent a photo of Robert, who filed for divorce last April, to Newbold, along with the instruction: “kill him.”
According to documents seen by DailyMail.com, Shiver broke down during her interview with police and allegedly confessed to sending photos and messages to Newbold, ordering him to murder her husband of 13 years.

The alleged murder plot was discovered by chance when police began investigating a robbery at Grabbers, a popular oceanfront drinking spot on Great Guana Cay.
They asked staff, including Bethel, to hand over their phones for inspection and found WhatsApp messages in which he, Shiver and Newbold allegedly discussed killing Robert, who was visiting his family home in nearby Baker’s Bay.
“This black walked up to Lindsay and wouldn’t let her get on the plane and put his hands on her. I’m about to come out of retirement over this black,” Bethel allegedly wrote to her childhood friend.
His lawyers said Robert agreed to allow the children to visit their mother under their parents’ supervision.

“He’s flying to Baker’s Bay, she’s thinking about letting me kill him but he has the kids.”
Police arrested Shiver on July 21, examined her iPhone and found she had sent Newbold “several photographs” of her husband along with a text message that said “kill him,” it is alleged.
The trio were arrested and more incriminating messages were found on their devices, according to a well-placed source.
Robert was on holiday independently of his ex-wife when police contacted him to warn him about the plot.
When Bahamian authorities informed him of the alleged threat, he called his wife “manipulative” and speculated on why she might want to cut him out of the picture.
“She had an affair with an 18-year-old male about a year ago and came to Abaco and smuggled him into my home in Abaco,” her statement said.
“I found out about him through his Apple Watch and he convinced me that he wanted to start a family, so we tried to make it work.”
The marriage fell apart forever when he discovered his wife’s relationship with Bethell in February, Robert said.
Lindsay said she was only allowed to speak to her children once via FaceTime on Christmas Day, but has not been able to communicate with them since.

His family owns property in the exclusive Baker’s Bay, a members-only golf resort where celebrities including Michael Jordan, Justin Timberlake and Tom Brady have sprawling coastal mansions.
But Shiver’s access to the family’s lavish residence and private jet was cut off in April after Robert learned of her affair with Bethel and filed for divorce, citing his wife’s “adulterous conduct.”
Shiver fired back with a countersuit, accusing Robert of domestic abuse and claiming that any “extramarital affairs” occurred after they had already separated.
Robert is now dating 26-year-old reality star Savannah Chrisley, with the latter confirming their relationship on her Instagram.
Shiver, a native of Alabama, graduated from Auburn University, where the two met in 2007 while Robert was captain of the football team.
Robert signed with the Atlanta Falcons as a free agent, but was released due to roster cuts before the 2009 season and eventually became executive vice president of Senior Life Insurance Company.
Speaking exclusively to DailyMail.com in August, Bethel declared her love for Shiver and said her marriage was in crisis long before he came on the scene.
“None of us have anything to hide. People take everything at face value and slander us,” he said.
