A Sydney resident is Australia’s new billionaire after hitting a huge $2.6 million Keno jackpot over the weekend.
The Toongabbie pub goer plans to buy a new home for his family with the huge cash prize drawn on Saturday.
This windfall is the second time the father has won big at Keno, landing a $10,000 prize about 20 years ago.
“The first ticket I put in, I won a little bit, so I decided to play a few more games,” he said.
“It worked out pretty well for me.”
The Sydney family man won Keno for the second time, but this prize is his biggest: $2.6 million.
The winner bought his ticket at Tonngabbie Sports Club (pictured) and celebrated with beers.
“Almost twenty years ago, I won $10,000 in Keno, which was fantastic,” he said.
‘However, it doesn’t even compare to this.
‘It’s funny, my wife is more excited than me. I think we will eventually look to move and buy a nice house.
“I had a couple of celebratory beers last night and now I’ll wait for the victory to sink in.”
Grateful for his victory, the man said the prize money would make a little change for his family.
The man bought his winning entry into the Keno Classic at the Toongabbie Sports Club.
Last year, Keno players in Australia took home over $1 billion, with 21 becoming instant millionaires sharing over $50 million in prize money.
