Former Bachelor star Kristen Czyszek has shared the horrifying moment her partner Sam Hourigan was nearly killed in a hit-and-run in Bali over the weekend.

The 30-year-old reality TV star and his freediving partner were on holiday when he was hit by a man on a scooter who was riding on the wrong side of the road with no lights on.

Sam was on the Padang Padang Bridge in the Uluwatu region when he was hit by a car, before another scooter ran over his body as he lay unconscious on the road.

He was rushed to hospital with a ruptured spleen, broken ribs and life-threatening internal bleeding.

Sam had to undergo life-saving surgery to remove his spleen and is now recovering in intensive care, where he faces medical bills of more than $50,000.

Your health insurance will not cover your medical bills due to a “minor technical exclusion.”

The Bachelor season 7 contestant took to Instagram where she asked for GoFundMe donations to help cover her partner’s hospital costs.

“He hit Sam so hard that the hospital had to remove his spleen to save his life,” Kristen wrote.

He said the accident nearly cost his partner her life and that despite having travel insurance, the nature of her accident was not covered.

Although Sam says he is lucky to be alive, he is devastated that he can no longer free dive because his spleen is gone.
