An Australian field hockey player has been arrested on suspicion of buying cocaine in Paris.
European crime reporter Jean-Baptiste Marty broke the news of the alleged arrest on X, formerly Twitter, on Wednesday evening.
“A member of the Australian field hockey team was arrested last night after (allegedly) buying cocaine on a street in the 9th arrondissement of Paris,” he said.
‘The seller, who was allegedly carrying 75 ecstasy pills, 3 grams of 2 MMC and seven bottles of cocaine, was also arrested.’

It is not known whether the arrested athlete was male or female, but both Australian teams, the Hockeyroos and Kookaburras, were eliminated from the quarter-finals earlier this week.
It is also unknown how much cocaine the athlete may have purchased.
Daily Mail Australia has contacted the Australian Olympic Committee and Hockey Australia for comment.
As it was just the beginning of the day in Paris when the news broke, the AOC is still investigating the alleged arrest.
More to come.
