Parts of WA, South Australia, Victoria and southern New South Wales received a few millimeters of rain overnight, but much more wet weather is not expected to be on the way.
Because this band of clouds is in the middle and upper levels of the atmosphere, it does not contain as much moisture as clouds at lower levels, meaning little to no rain.
Sydney is expected to receive some showers on Thursday, with a high of 23C.
Melbourne will be mostly dry with temperatures hovering around 10 degrees, while Canberra will see a high of 21C.

Rain is expected in Hobart over the next few days, while Adelaide will be sunny and warm.
Those in Brisbane will enjoy hot, sunny days in the 20s and 30s, and Perth will see similar weather.
Darwin has a 50 per cent chance of rain over the next few days with temperatures rising to 35C.
It comes after a rare band of cloud in the northeast brought heavy rain across Australia in July, drenching the country’s central, southern and eastern regions.
Parts of Queensland, South Australia and New South Wales were expected to be flooded with up to 60mm over several days.
