A schoolboy was shocked by the value of his genie lamp on Antiques Roadshow.

The young man appeared on the BBC’s Sunday teatime show when he arrived at Roundhay Park in Leeds, where he brought a sterling silver teapot he had found on the side of the road in a box marked “free”.

The boy, believed to be the youngest guest on the long-running series, did not reveal his name, but the antique teapot was marked with the letter G, which is his initial.

Revealing more about the history of the teapot, expert Lagina Austin explained: ‘It’s what they call a demitasse teapot, which would be used for coffee rather than tea. And this was probably part of a set.

And the G in there is probably the last name of whoever it belonged to at some point. You are right that it is sterling silver.
