A mother who branded Jetstar cabin crew “disgusting” after they allegedly refused to help her while she was travelling alone with her baby has hit back at critics who branded her “privileged”.
Larissa Davey, from Melbourne, was flying to the Gold Coast on a separate flight to her sister last Friday because her original booking had been cancelled by the budget airline.
The mother of one child, who runs a children’s clothing company, said staff refused to help her, allegedly telling her it was not her responsibility.
“Jetstar’s treatment of women travelling alone with babies is absolutely disgusting,” an angry Davey said in a video posted on social media.
The mother claimed she asked a staff member if someone could help her with her bags on the plane, to which the staff member allegedly replied: “Only if they want to.”
“I carry my daughter on my hip, with the diaper bag and stroller in my hand. I literally don’t have a free hand,” she added.
Ms Davey then asked another member of staff if they could help her across the track, to which she was allegedly told: “It’s not our responsibility.”
“That’s really disgusting,” he fumed.

“And what about your responsibility as a fucking human being? You’re all idiots.”
He said staff needed “a lesson in manners and a new job”.
A Jetstar spokesperson said “their customer services team has been in touch with her to better understand what happened.”
“We want all parents to feel welcome and comfortable on our flights and we are very sorry to hear about your experience,” they added.
However, not everyone agreed with the mother’s speech.
“I’ve flown Jetstar four times alone with a three-month-old baby and only took the nappy bag as hand luggage because expecting someone to help you or roll out the red carpet for you is madness,” wrote one mum.
Another added: Princess, it’s not your job.
“It’s your responsibility. Do you ask people at the supermarket to push your cart because you have a child?”
Another scathing comment suggested that she should accept it.
“Next time you hire a private jet to travel… seriously, get over it,” he said.
However, Ms Davey hit back.
“I think everyone is somehow overlooking the simple fact that I’m not saying it’s anyone’s responsibility, I’m saying they have no human DECENCY and no right to ask for help crossing a wet track,” he wrote.
