Following the most recent death, Mayor Eric Adams came to X to pay his respects.

“It’s heartbreaking to know that another life was cut short due to subway surfing. I send my prayers to the family of this young New Yorker.

“We will continue to do everything we can to discourage this dangerous activity, but we need everyone to join us in our efforts. Through our #RideInsideStayAlive campaign, we will continue to work to keep our children safe,” Adams said.

Last year, the MTA launched a campaign, “Ride Inside, Stay Alive,” warning about the dangers of subway surfing after many children were injured or killed.

This is the fourth death of a subway surfer in 2024 and the youngest victim to lose their life due to this reckless act.
