Amy Robach and TJ Holmes have opened up about hitting rock bottom after their affair was exposed and have shared what helped them overcome the resulting fallout.
The revelation came during a June 2 episode of the Amy & TJ podcast, when the former Good Morning America co-hosts welcomed singer-songwriter Rachel Platten as a guest.
Holmes, 46, shared that the duo attended Platten’s concert the night before and that Robach had been “wiping tears off his face.”
Robach, 51, gushed about the musician before sharing how the 2015 hit ‘Fight Song’ had resonated with her.
“We know a little bit about walking through the darkness and coming out to the other side and when the worst has happened,” Robach said. “And I’ve thought I’d hit rock bottom before, and I actually hit rock bottom.”

She professed that the song had become her “anthem” at the time of the couple’s dramatic ouster from the morning television show.
Holmes, meanwhile, characterized the process of letting go as “strange” but “liberating.”
He said the experience was necessary to find “where I’m supposed to be,” but admitted, “It sucks.” It sucks even more than you think.
The duo launched their self-titled podcast last year, with the first episode dropping on December 5, exactly one year after their departure from GMA.
Robach and Holmes were ‘temporarily removed’ from the show in 2022 after rumors began circulating about their affair. They were officially fired on January 27 of last year.
DailyMail.com was the first to expose their entanglement, after photographers captured the duo getting down to business during a retreat in upstate New York.
On November 10, 2022, a day before the now-infamous weekend getaway, the couple was spotted at O’Donoghue’s bar in Times Square, hours after pre-taping their daily segment.
“They were totally in love with each other,” an eyewitness told DailyMail.com.
‘She was laughing at what he was saying and they were looking at each other’s phones. At one point, she was dancing in her chair to the music and she was laughing so hard that she practically fell into her lap.
Most incriminating was a photo of Holmes, 46, patting Robach on the butt during a weekend getaway in upstate New York.
It was later discovered that the couple’s exes, Andrew Shue and Marilee Fiebig, were dating after seeing their marriages fall apart.
The next day, Holmes was seen leaving her apartment with a backpack and a duffel bag and, after a morning session, heading to a West Village restaurant near Robach’s apartment.
Moments later, he turned the corner and walked up the block to where Robach was waiting to pick him up in his BMW convertible.
The couple embarked on a two-hour drive north of the city to the Shawangunk Mountains, where they stayed at a remote cabin for the weekend.
On November 17, the couple reunited after wrapping up filming for the day. Holmes met Robach, a stage 2 breast cancer survivor, at New York University Langone Medical Center. Later, Robach’s friend walked her dog while she and Holmes stayed at her apartment.
The duo was taken off the air less than a month after the photos were published, although viewers were told the change would be “temporary.”

In January, an email memo was sent to staff notifying them of the couple’s departure.
“After several productive conversations with Amy Robach and TJ Holmes about different options, we all agreed that it is in everyone’s best interest to leave ABC News,” it read, in part.
“We recognize their talent and commitment over the years and are grateful for their contributions.”
Robach’s ex-husband, Andrew Shue, deleted all traces of her from social media just days after news of the infidelity broke.
The couple married in 2008, following Robach’s separation from Tim McIntosh, and had a blended family that included five children from previous marriages.
Holmes and his ex-wife, Marilee Fiebig, divorced in December 2022 after reportedly separating in August.
The couple welcomed a baby girl in 2013 and were married for 12 years. Holmes has two other children, a son and a daughter, from his previous marriage to Amy Ferson.
In a turn of events, it was revealed in December 2023 that Shue and Fiebig had been dating for about six months. Insiders confirmed that the two became close as a result of the affair.
The couple was last seen at a Rangers game in March with Fiebig’s daughter, and then walking hand in hand through Manhattan on their way to dinner.
