Who released the dogs? A new dog-only airline called BARK Air is not only getting them out of there, it’s also getting them away.
The dog-only airline made its inaugural flight from New York to Los Angeles on Thursday, May 23.
According to CEO Matt Meeker, the new airline will transport dogs of all sizes and their owners “in comfort and style,” with the goal of achieving stress-free flights for both owners and pets.
“We give everything to the dog, trying to reduce its anxiety and stress,” he explained in a preview for the press.
“It’s a first-class experience for the dog, a business-class experience for the people.”

BARK, the pet company founded in 2011, announced the launch of the dog-focused airplane experience in April as a way to “revolutionize flying for dogs.”
The furry passengers fly better than most humans, with onboard amenities including a lounge full of treats and toys, quick check-ins, and even an onboard spa for pups.
The luxury plane has capacity for 14 people, but the airline does not want to sell more than 10 tickets to make room for 10 dogs.
At the moment, BARK Air offers routes between metropolitan areas of New York City from White Plains Airport to Van Nuys Airport in Los Angeles.
Internationally they fly into London’s Biggin Hill Airport.
The flight will cost a pet and its human companion $8,000 for a one-way international flight and $6,000 for a domestic trip.
Children are not allowed to fly on BARK Air and all human passengers must be at least 18 years old.
However, Meeker said the numbers could change as flights gain popularity.

“I hope we can create an experience that reaches all families who want to travel with their entire family as they do with their children,” he explained.
“And that means serving as many routes as we can, making the costs more affordable, more attainable for every family or for most families.”
So far, the airline is popular and BARK Air has received more than 15,000 requests for new destinations.
They are now considering adding flights to Paris, Milan, Chicago, Seattle and seasonal destinations in Florida and Arizona.
“We have a long way to go, but this is the first step,” said the general director.
And he added: “Just so that everyone can travel with their entire family and leave no one behind.”
