A woman who had a sexual relationship with a plane for nine years has revealed that she has broken up with him but they remain friends.

Warehouse worker Michele Köbke, 36, first embarked on a whirlwind romance with the Boeing 737-800, which she affectionately called “Darling”, in 2014.

She previously said of ‘Darling’: ‘I find the 737-800 very attractive and sexy. It’s the most beautifully built aircraft and it’s very attractive and elegant.’

But she revealed she has since split with her partner, telling Bild the split was amicable: “We are still friends.”

Michele was diagnosed with objectophilia years ago: “I’m normal. It’s true that at first I thought I was crazy, but then I discovered that I am objectophile. People are very diverse in the way they structure their relationships.”

“It’s like a normal relationship, we have relaxing evenings together and when we go to bed, we hug each other and fall asleep together,” she added.

She previously said of her relationship with the plane: 'My cheeks hurt from smiling, I'm the happiest woman in the world, when I'm with him I have everything I need.'

“When I touch his wings, my palms immediately get sweaty and I get excited,” she revealed, adding that she wanted to “marry my boyfriend and live with him in a hangar; it’s a special kind of love that doesn’t hurt anyone.”

Forensic psychiatrist and private tutor Dr. Werner Platz told the newspaper that around 40 people worldwide are known to suffer from the disorder.

“It is a paraphilia, a disorder of sexual preference, but as long as it does not cause suffering or conflict, it cannot be classified as pathological and does not require treatment,” he explained.

Michele had already spoken about the difficulties of having a relationship with the plane: ‘A relationship with a plane is not easy and sometimes it is difficult.

“I can only get close to it when I fly with it or when I can reach it in the hangar, which has only happened once in my life.”

Michele isn’t the only one who has fallen in love with a Boeing 737.

Sarah Rodo from Dortmund, Germany, found love on her first flight on a Boeing 737, after an unsuccessful attempt at dating humans.

Since then, the 23-year-old has also “met” 60 plus-size figures and three larger-than-life models whom she considers part of a “collective being” she is dating, and so often refers to her lovers as one.
