A homeowner has come under fire for transforming a Tudor-style mansion into a contemporary, new-style home.

Fabiola, a lover of Tudor houses, posted a video showing the transformation on her Instagram account @littletudordiary.

The video, which appears to have been posted by a construction company, reveals how the owner wanted the property to have the style of a French country house.

The builders removed the wooden facade and replaced it with a clean gray finish with dark gray window frames.

They added that the client also requested the brick be painted white, with new garage doors and gutters, resulting in a drastic change in style.

While the owner may have been happy with the renovation, critics slammed it on Instagram.

One commenter wrote: “I hate it. Since when is ‘stripping away all the details and painting everything white’ French style? What kind of design school did you go to?”

Captioning the post, Fabiola wrote: ‘I understand it’s possibly not an old Tudor, but unfortunately, it’s not a French country style either, as I think that style has a stone and earth facade and those French shutters.

‘So not only is it not a French country house, it is not Tudor in style. Please correct me if I’m wrong.

‘I purposely hid the design company, (at the end of the day) it is always the desire of the client and their home.’
